Frequently Asked Questions

Is MBBS in Bulgaria valid in India?
Yes. All 6 Bulgarian medical universities are listed in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) India. Graduates must clear NExT (National Exit Test) — formerly FMGE — to practise in India. Bulgarian MD degrees are also valid for USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK), AMC (Australia), and across all EU countries.
Is NEET required for MBBS in Bulgaria?
Yes — NEET-UG is mandatory as per NMC India's November 2021 Gazette Notification. However, there is no minimum NEET score requirement for admission to Bulgarian universities. Any NEET-qualified candidate with the required Class 12 marks (50% PCB for General, 45% for Reserved) is eligible.
Can I take the Bulgarian university entrance exam from India?
Yes. All 6 Bulgarian medical universities now conduct their entrance examinations fully online and remotely. You do not need to travel to Bulgaria for the exam. The exam covers Biology, Chemistry, and English (MCQ format, 90 minutes). Score = 3×Biology + 3×Chemistry + English. Maximum 42 points.
What is the total cost of MBBS in Bulgaria?
Tuition ranges from €7,500 (Trakia University) to €10,000/year (MU Plovdiv). Adding living expenses (accommodation, food, transport, insurance), the all-inclusive annual cost is approximately €10,500–€15,000 depending on the university and city. This is 3–5x cheaper than private medical colleges in India and far below UK/Germany costs.
What is the NACID certificate and why is it required?
NACID (National Centre for Information and Documentation) is Bulgaria's Ministry of Education agency that evaluates and recognises foreign educational credentials. All international students studying in Bulgaria must obtain NACID certification for their Class 10 and 12 documents before enrollment. KALINGAEURO handles the entire NACID process for our students.
Is clinical training in English at Bulgarian universities?
Yes. The entire MD programme — lectures, labs, clinical training, and hospital rotations — is conducted in English for international students. Some basic Bulgarian language is recommended for patient communication during clinical years, but all academic assessment is in English.
Is food and accommodation available for Indian students?
Yes. Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna all have established Indian student communities with Indian restaurants, vegetarian food options, and cultural organisations. University dormitories are available at all 6 universities at very affordable rates (€70–180/month). KALINGAEURO provides airport pickup, accommodation arrangement, and initial settlement support.
How does KALINGAEURO help with the admission process?
KALINGAEURO is an authorised student recruitment agency for Bulgarian medical universities. We provide: free initial counselling, university selection guidance, application assistance, NACID processing, visa documentation, pre-departure briefing, airport pickup coordination, and ongoing support throughout your 6 years. We have offices in Bhubaneswar, Gurugaon, and Berlin.
